Hello!
I’m an instructional designer and educational researcher who believes learning can be both enjoyable and effective with the right design. I’ve worked on various instructional design projects, drawing from learning and instructional design theories to create engaging experiences for both K-12 and adult learners. With a Ph.D. in Learning, Design, and Technology, I also have hands-on experience conducting educational research, which helps me design materials that are grounded in evidence and best practices.
My goal is to keep creating meaningful, research-based instructional materials that incorporate technology, ensuring every learner has the opportunity to engage in learning in a way that’s both enjoyable and impactful.
Fun Fact About Me: When I'm not designing, you'll find me in the kitchen whipping up cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and brownies—baking is my second passion! The best part? Sharing my creations with friends and family and seeing their smiles. I’ve also recently fallen in love with traveling around the world with my husband. If you have any hidden gems we should visit, let me know—I’m always up for an adventure!
CORE THEORIES
My approach to instructional design is grounded in four key educational theories that inform my work and reflect my commitment to creating meaningful, effective, and inclusive learning experiences:
CONSTRUCTIVISM
Designing experiences that connect new information to what learners already know, fostering deeper understanding through active engagement and exploration.
UNIVERSAL DESIGN FOR LEARNING
Being mindful of inclusivity by offering multiple ways to engage, represent, and express knowledge, ensuring all learners can access and participate fully.
COGNITIVE LEARNING THEORIES
Creating strategies that enhance attention, memory, and comprehension, supporting learners in processing and organizing information effectively.
SELF-DETERMINATION THEORY
Fostering intrinsic motivation by supporting autonomy, competence, and relatedness, empowering learners to take charge of their learning journey.
